How Vaultastic Keeps Your Archived Data Secure

Cloud Data Security Architecture

Your archive holds your most sensitive business records. Here’s how Vaultastic keeps them secure.

Why the security of your archive matters

Your archive holds years of email, chat, and files: contracts, financial records, and customer conversations. Before you entrust it to any cloud platform, you need to know how that platform protects it.

Your archive is a high-value target

Archived records are at risk from cyber attacks, ransomware, and careless insiders. An archive kept apart from your production systems, with strong controls of its own, provides you with an accurate copy of the information records even when primary systems are compromised. That’s why data resilience belongs in your cyber defence strategy.

Regulators expect proof

Regulators like RBI, SEBI, and IRDAI e.g. expect financial firms to protect, retain, and produce records on demand, while India’s DPDP Act adds obligations to safeguard private data. The controls of your archival platform are critical to your compliance posture.

Retention costs keep climbing

Data volumes grow every year. Securing and retaining that data on inadequately secure infrastructure adds cost, staff time, and risks.

How Vaultastic secures your archived data: a behind-the-scenes look

Vaultastic is an enterprise archival and data governance platform. It keeps an independent copy of your email, chat, files, and SaaS data in stores with multi-layered security and controls built in.

Multi-layered architecture on AWS

Vaultastic runs on AWS and builds its own controls on top of AWS’s infrastructure security, covering the network, data, application, and access layers:

  • Encryption at rest with AES-256, and in transit over TLS
  • Logically isolated Virtual Private Clouds, private subnets and deny-all firewalls
  • Web application firewalls and DDoS throttling on internet-facing services
  • Rate controls that flag abnormal usage
  • Least-privilege, MFA-protected access for Mithi’s own operations teams
  • Tenant isolation and a partitioned data architecture
  • Data ingestion only from trusted, pre-bound sources
  • Region selection for data residency
Security Architecture

Each layer adds its own controls, from AWS infrastructure at the core to applications, access, and user awareness on the outside.

Immutable, isolated archives

Archived data is stored separately from your production systems. That separation protects it from accidental deletion, ransomware, and system failures in your primary environment. Immutable (WORM) archival options keep records tamper-proof, as one wealth management firm found, and integrity checks guard data as it moves between storage tiers.

Resilience built in

Disaster recovery capabilities span all four Vaultastic stores, and the platform is designed for 99.999999999% (11 nines) data durability.

Strong access controls

Administrators decide exactly who can see what:

  • Two-factor authentication (OTP) for all or selected users
  • Role-based administration and scoped access to vaults
  • Access restricted to trusted IP ranges, with optional site-to-site VPN
  • Password policies, account lockout, and CAPTCHA protection

Continuous vigilance

Mithi’s Network Operations Center (NOC) monitors the platform continuously, and rate controls flag abnormal usage for investigation. Incidents are handled through defined response procedures: affected customers are informed where needed, and findings go back to the product teams for a long-term fix.

At your end, security event logging and detailed audit trails record every operation by authenticated users, so you can review logins, exports, and admin changes at any time.

Independent audits and AWS review

Customers in regulated industries rightly ask for more than ratings and references. They want independent proof that our controls and processes work. Vaultastic provides it in three ways.

Independently audited for SOC 2 and ISO 27001

SOC 2 and ISO 27001. Mithi follows internationally recognised security standards, and independent auditors regularly assess its security practices. Its SOC 2 attestation, issued under AICPA standards, checks that its security controls are well designed and work effectively. Mithi is also ISO 27001 certified, which means it runs a structured Information Security Management System (ISMS) with clear risk management, security controls and regular reviews.

AWS Foundational Technical Review (FTR)

The AWS FTR checks a cloud solution against a subset of AWS Well-Architected best practices for security, reliability, and operational excellence. Mithi’s cloud platform first passed the FTR in 2021, and the review covered the controls deployed on the platform and the processes we follow to stay vigilant. Vaultastic is listed as a reviewed solution on the AWS Partner Solutions Finder.

Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT)

A CERT-In empanelled vendor periodically tests the platform, and every reported finding is closed within defined timelines.

Secure development

Development follows a secure software development lifecycle, with regular patching for known vulnerabilities.

Built to support stringent regulations

Vaultastic is designed to support the cybersecurity guidelines of Indian regulators, including RBI, SEBI, and IRDAI, as well as data protection laws such as GDPR and India’s DPDP Act. Configurable retention policies, legal hold readiness, immutable storage, and full audit trails help you maintain defensible records and respond quickly to audits and legal requests. See how Vaultastic supports compliance and audit readiness.

Security is a shared responsibility

Vaultastic secures the platform: infrastructure, encryption, isolation, monitoring, and audits. Your team controls how it is used: who has access, how strong your identity policies are, and how retention is configured.

Entrust your data to Vaultastic

Your records drive your decisions. Vaultastic keeps them secure, retrievable, and audit-ready, so you can focus on your core business.

  • Stay available: built-in disaster recovery and 11 nines durability keep your records retrievable when you need them.
  • Be audit-ready: retention policies, legal hold readiness, and audit trails help you meet RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, GDPR, and DPDP requirements.
  • Choose with confidence: your records sit on an independently reviewed platform with security controls at every layer.
